IIM Shortlist 2024 Key Highlights

All of the IIMs are en route to releasing the shortlists for the PI and WAT final rounds separately as the CAT 2022 results are expected to be released on December 21. The final merit list is created by the respective IIMs based on these scores, work experience, CAT percentile, and diversity factors after the personal interview and subsequent rounds, which will be performed online, are over.

• The majority of the IIMs have dropped their GD and WAT round and like last year will be conducting only PI round online.

• IIM will begin the Common Admission Process (CAP) registration process soon.

• Out of the four CAP 2024 participating baby IIMs – IIM Bodhgaya, IIM Jammu, IIM Sambalpur, and IIM Sirmaur, the two –IIM Bodh Gaya and IIM Jammu will announce different shortlisting criteria for CAP and for their own selection round.

• IIM Shillong, IIM Rohtak, IIM Amritsar, IIM Nagpur, and IIM Visakhapatnam may not be participating in IIM CAP 2024 and hence will be conducting their own admission process probably.

IIM Interview dates 2024

Information regarding the Personal Interview and Writing Ability Test will be available on each of the 20 IIMs’ admission pages. The dates for the IIM interview in 2024 will be set based on the CAT scorecard and shortlist. Based on PI, CAT score, and 10/12th grade marks, the MBA/PGP admissions list will be released in 2024–25.

The IIM Call Letter for the PI & WAT or Phase 2 Cycle will be available once the Interview dates are announced. The call letters for the qualified candidates will arrive in the mail or on the official website. Please check the various IIMs’ website for further details.

IIM Shortlisting Criteria and Selection Process 2024

IIM shortlisting process is divided into three stages:

IIM Shortlisting Process Stages

Stage 1: Shortlisting of candidates on the basis of their CAT 2022 score

Candidates will be invited to apply for the PI round by each IIM on its official website following the announcement of the CAT results. To submit their name and CAT score, candidates who meet the shortlist cutoff must log in using their CAT IDs.

Stage 2: Screening of candidates for Personal Interview

After being shortlisted in the second round based on their CAT scores and academic records, candidates who applied for PI will receive interview invitations.

Stage 3: Calculation of CAT Composite Score and Final Selection in IIM

To make a final decision about a candidate, the third stage uses a variety of parameters to calculate the candidate’s composite score. During the final selection process for IIM admission, candidates are evaluated based on a number of criteria and their composite score is calculated. The eight main parameters and their definitions are listed below.

CAT IIM Shortlist: Previous Years’ Analysis of Number of Seats & Shortlisted Candidates

Based on the previous year’s analysis, here are the number of seats and the number of candidates who got shortlisted for IIMs.

IIM CAP Shortlist 2024

The first round of the Common Admission Process, or CAP 2024, will begin in February 2024, while the third round of the PI will likely end in March 2024. This year, IIM Udaipur is hosting CAP. IIM Rohtak, which in the past took part in the CAP round, might not take part in the new IIM CAP 2024 and will instead run its own online admissions procedure independently. This has not yet been verified.

IIM Admission 2024-25: Waitlist Movement

The number of seats that are offered to candidates who are on the waitlist for admission is referred to as the IIM admission waitlist. IIMs reserve one batch or slot for students on the waiting list when they shortlist candidates or release the final admission list.

• If any candidate lets go of his or her seat then the student from the waiting listing can get admission.

• Over the past years, students wait a long time for the waitlist of IIM Ahmedabad, Bangalore, and Calcutta to move to get close to admission chances.

• There remains a high waitlist movement in IIM Calcutta and IIM Lucknow because selected candidates prefer IIMA or IIMB over these two.
